The Three Kingdoms
The Old Kingdom
Egypt is divided into three different eras. The Old Kingdom is the first. During the Old Kingdom Pharaohs had all of the power and there was no system of voting. What the Pharaoh said was law. Pyramids and mummification were very prominent during this time as well. |
The Middle Kingdom
During the time of the Middle Kingdom Pharaohs built public works, and the kingdom expanded to Africa and Western Asia. The Middle Kingdom ended when the Hyksos invaded from Western Asia.
The New Kingdom
Hatshepsut was the first female pharaoh and she ruled The New Kingdom. The next ruler was Akkenaten who closed all of the temples except for those of Aten, the sun god. The people of Egypt didnt like him very much for that, but the next ruler Tutankhamen restored the old gods so no need to worry.
